Newton Youth Soccer, founded in 1976, promotes soccer for kids in grades 1 through high school. Residents of Newton or children who attend Newton schools are eligible. NYS programs enroll approximately 1,300 players annually. Players develop skills in a fun and engaging environment.
NYS is referred to as the “boys” league as a way to distinguish the program from Newton Girls Soccer (a separate organization); however, girls are welcome to play in NYS programs.
- Intramural – An in-town program for players in grades 1- 6. Children who attend Newton schools or are Newton residents are eligible to participate.
- Travel – NYS participates in the Boston Area Youth Soccer (BAYS) travel program during the fall and spring seasons. Teams are organized by grade and age for kids entering 3rd grade through high school. The Newton Youth Soccer teams compete against teams from neighboring towns.
- Skills Programs – Designed to offer players in grades 1-4 additional practice, skills development and game play. Players are grouped by grade and age.
- Goalkeeping Clinics – Travel team players in grades 3-8 may also register for separate goalkeeping skills development clinics.
Newton Youth Soccer relies on adult volunteers to organize teams, coaches, uniforms, and equipment. Throughout the year volunteers train referees, run instructional and licensing clinics for coaches, and maintain fields. During the spring, volunteers organize tryouts for the upcoming BAYS travel fall season. Please contact Newton Youth Soccer to join the roster of volunteers.
