Programs

Newton Girls Soccer offers various programs throughout the year.

  • City Teams are a recreation-focused soccer experience for students entering 3rd – 9th grades. The primary emphasis is for players to have fun, exercise and to support good health. Players will work on developing fundamental skills, sportsmanship, and socialization skills. Teams are developed at the grade level with a goal of being balanced with players from across the community (not by school).
  • Travel Teams provide a more competitive option for players at higher levels. There are no tryouts; all registered students are placed on a team which are developed by skill level. Teams range from division 4 with less skilled, recreation players to division 1 with highly skilled and highly competitive players. Skills assessments are held in the spring for team placement in the upcoming fall season. Travel teams engage in friendly competition against teams from other communities. Games are typically held on Saturday mornings.
  • Academy Teams are invitation-only programs for Travel Team players seeking additional competition and development through fall, winter and spring. Each team has a professional coach, weekly practices in addition to Travel Team practice, and weekend Futsal games throughout the winter.
  • Skills Development programs for players in kindergarten through 8th grade provides an extra hour of practice each week with training by NGS Professional Coaching Staff.
  • Summer Vacation Clinics teach soccer techniques and tactics to players entering kindergarten through 8th grade. Players are grouped by age and ability.
