Detailed Information

Powisset Farm’s summer camp, Farmer, Forester, Chef! is designed for children aged 6-13 who will spend time with animals, gardening, cooking, and exploring the natural world. Each weekly session is staffed with friendly and experienced counselors who engage campers in fun, educational activities on the 109-acre working farm and the neighboring Rocky Woods reservation.

Kids will learn about farming and where food comes from by participating in composting, planting, harvesting, and preparing soil for crops. Campers care for chickens, pigs, sheep, goats and rabbits while learning about animal life. Junior farmers also enjoy daily cooking lessons in Powisset’s fully equipped teaching kitchen. They learn about healthy, fresh foods while preparing delicious meals and sharing with each other.

Forester Days

Wednesdays are focused on exploring the natural world. Campers meet at nearby  Rocky Woods to hike the varied hills and trails, check out beaver constructions, build fairy houses, learn about local history, and discover natural flora and fauna.

Schedule and Extended Hours

Week-long sessions are offered from late June through August. The full day runs from 9:00am – 3:00pm. Extended afternoon until 4:00pm is available for an additional fee.
