Detailed Information

Edge on Science offers various week-long STEM day programs for kids entering grades 3 – 9. These programs fuel children’s interests in applied science and engineering. The classes include specific topics such as Drone Makerspace, Galileo’s Astronomy, Super Science Sampler and more. No previous coding experience is required; however, kids who do have coding experience will find challenges that meet their skill level.

Sample Program Curriculum

  • Drone Makerspace. The week starts with the fundamentals of drone flight and control. Students will work with a teammate to learn about drones and complete assembly. Kids advance their skills and muscle memory through indoor flying and computer simulations.
  • Galileo’s Astronomy. Students and their partner will set up an optical bench, experiment with lenses, prisms, and beam splitters, then assemble the parts into a refractor telescope. They will be challenged while experimenting with pendulums and safely viewing the features of the sun using a professional grade telescope.
  • Super Science Sampler. The sampler is designed for students entering 3rd- 5th grades. The week covers rocketry, chemistry, drone clinic & professional gyroscope demonstration, microscope lab, astronomy, engineering, and more! Participants will engage in outdoor activities, games and challenges with the freedom to explore. The week culminates in a mini science fair.
