We have 3 kids and have booked play dates and a couple activities - movies, half day camp, legoland - for 3/4 of the days. Does anyone have other suggestions for fairly last minute inexpensive (legoland is our splurge!) activities to keep everyone busy and hopefully out of the house.

Thanks, JJ

our kids spend time writing thank you notes. it might sound dull, but we turn it into a big family time arts & crafts. it's not the out of the house you were requesting, but i like that our kids learn how to say thanks for the gifts received and it's an afternoon of fun for them.

IKEA! Might sound silly I know but there are lots of things for kids to look at, it's fairly family-friendly, and FREE. And there's a little restaurant area.

Check some of the arts centers in the area. They often have free open house activities and projects for kids, especially during holiday weeks.

Bake at home. Most kids love getting involved in the kitchen. Hard to go wrong with sweet treats to enjoy after. They can also stay busy helping with the clean up. Plus the pre-baking process of combing through recipes and shopping for ingredients.
