Credit: Meeting House Child Care Center

Detailed Information

The Meeting House Child Care Center offers year round programs for children aged 2 months to 6 years. They have a dedicated outdoor playground and take the kids for walks to Crystal Lake, Newton Center playground, and other interesting locations nearby such as the post office or train station.  There is also a large open indoor space on the basement level, which allows the kids to run around during days of inclement weather. The school hosts a number of events throughout the year for families to meet each other and interact with the other kids and staff.

While the center follows the Newton school system with the new year starting in September, the Meeting House offers enrollment on a rolling basis depending on availability. Rooms are often filled by February so we recommend contacting the center as soon as possible to enroll.

Mission

The center provides high-quality early education and care to young children. Their mission is to promote the safety and well being of children at various stages of development. Teachers and staff pay special attention to building self-esteem and encouraging social relationships.

Programs

Children are placed in classrooms based on age. Programs are structured to allow classrooms to mature throughout the course of the year. This enables children to progress as a group rather than switching rooms and teachers mid-year. The Meeting House currently has four separate classrooms and daily schedules are designed. Children remain in their classrooms for the contracted year and transition with their classmates the following September.

Enrichment activities include music, creative movement, yoga, dancing, visits from the fire department, trips to Newton Community Farm, apple picking, curious creatures, and puppet showplace, among others.

Teachers

Some of the teachers have been with the Meeting House for many years. They are kind, patient and creative, working with the kids and refreshing toys, art work and other activities to keep curiosity flowing.
