Our 14 yo is struggling with acne. The dermatologist said it's hormonal. Ok, so now what? She's very insecure about it. I can see her shy away even from me. I try not to comment other than to try to find some ways to help but even bringing it up to help her makes her upset. Big problem area around the chin and bottom half of her cheeks. Poor gal. We've tried different gentle washes and have adjusted the diet. I'm open to all of your suggestions. ALL!! I've read lots of blogs and find mostly ads and promotions. I'd like some honest opinions, ideas and good product recommendations. Thanks so much! Vic

with no scientific proof whatsoever we have had success reducing skin issues by drinking lemon water. i know you mentioned already you changed the diet, but maybe this will help. good luck. it can be a tough time for kids. -Alexi

Here's another non scientific idea, baking soda. My brother told me his daughter was having a hard time with the products and they started using baking soda. Seems odd but it worked for her. No chemicals and the soaps and washes she was using didn't seem to work. RIcky

Interesting. Sounds like a strong exfoliation. Did she use daily or a weekly soda wash?

A couple years ago our teenage son tried Proactiv for a while. Somewhat hard to say if it really helped. It seemed like it was helping, but not 100%. Of course it was up against a time when Josh was going through a lot of growing hormonal changes and also lots of sweaty sports and no doubt lots of teenage lunch and after school choices with friends. Still, I recommend trying Proactiv.

My friend's kids used is ceravie, no side effect reactions. I think it was ok.
