Boston is home to a long list of well recognized independent schools. Families often choose private education because of specialty academic programs, athletics, religion, smaller class sizes, and many other reasons.
After a couple of years in the public schools in Newton, we decided to explore private schools. We toured multiple schools in Newton, Wellesley, Dedham, Natick and Watertown. In the end, we enrolled our kids in different schools. Our final selections were based primarily on fostering and developing the individual interests of each child. For our son, we chose a school that has a more challenging academic program and various options for team sports. We enrolled our daughter in a school dedicated to fine and creative arts.
We recommend starting the discovery process as early as possible so you have time to make an informed decision prior to applying. Tour the schools, discuss the program and curriculum, and meet faculty and staff at an open house.
